To continue The Sports Column’s giving spirit, here is my gifts for a player/coach and a fanbase.
(Player Gift) My Gift of Wisdom:
To Ray Lewis, the city of Baltimore’s most iconic athlete (sorry Cal), I present wisdom. As much as I will miss your pre game pep talks, and legendary leadership, it’s time to walk away from the NFL my friend. You will make a smooth transition into the media and life will be good. Let us as fans remember your greatness, not the old, beaten down version that we see today. Thank you for your passion, you truly are the face of Baltimore.
(Fanbase Gift) The Kings Ransom:
To the Washington Wizards, I give one trade that will transform the franchise. Washington agrees to trade Bradley Beal, Nene, and a top 5 protected #1 pick to the Sacramento Kings. In return the Wizards receive Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans. When John Wall returns from injury, the Wizards starting five would look something like this:
PG – John Wall
SG – Tyreke Evans
SF – Martell Webster
PF – Chris Singleton
C – Demarcus Cousins
If nothing else, the trade will make the Wizards relevant. With a little luck, the Wizards will get a top five pick in the 2013 draft, therefore retaining the right to the pick, select Nerlens Noel from the University of Kentucky and offer John Calapari the head coaching position. Merry Christmas Wizards fans.
